Seven persons arrested in special operation in Tbilisi
A Tbilisi court has ruled to arrest six citizens of Ukraine and one citizen of Georgia, detained during a special operation in Tbilisi and suspected of illegally acquiring and storing weapons.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 2, during a special operation in Tbilisi, six citizens of Ukraine and a citizen of Georgia were detained; during a search, weapons and ammunition were seized from them.
The Tbilisi City Court has ruled to arrest all the detainees. According to investigators, all of them are fighters of the "Donbass" Ukrainian battalion, the First Channel of the Georgian TV has reported on its website today.
"The investigation is underway to establish why those detained in the course of the special operation in Tbilisi needed ammunition," the website has quoted the Public Prosecutor Vasil Samkharadze as saying today.
The weapons seized during the search were planted on them, said David Sakvarelidze, an associate of Mikhail Saakashvili. "They planted weapons on four Ukrainian citizens and one Georgian one, who simply came to have their rest there, or because of their civil stand. In the spirit of the 1990s, policemen planted some rusty pistols and bullets from a submachine gun, but the gun itself wasn't found," the "InfoResist" quotes Mr Sakvarelidze as saying.
