An attack on law enforcers in Kabardino-Balkaria becomes second one in 2018

A shootout in the Maisky District, in which three suspected militants were killed on November 29, has become the second armed incident in Kabardino-Balkaria in 2018 after an attack on a policeman in October.

According to the law enforcement bodies, the incident occurred when law enforces tried to stop a car and people inside it opened fire. The FSB reports that religious extremists were killed, and the fourth attacker was detained.

The first attack on law enforcers since the beginning of 2018 occurred in the Baksan District on October 3. A body of a district police inspector with gunshot and knife wounds was found in the village of Atazhukino. Investigators reported that two men suspected of the murder rendered resistance during detention and were killed.

According to the "Caucasian Knot", in the Maiski District, there have been no attacks on law enforcers over the past five years.
