Armenian NSS reports failure to investigate wiretapping of law enforcers' conversations

Investigators have got no real evidence base in the case on wiretapping of phone conversations of the heads of the Armenian law enforcement bodies, reports Arthur Vanetsyan, the chief of the National Security Service (NSS).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 11, YouTube posted a record of a phone conversation between Arthur Vanetsyan, Director of the National Security Service of Armenia, and Sasun Khachatryan, the head of the Special Investigating Service, about the arrests of Robert Kocharyan and Yuri Khachaturov in the case on dispersal of demonstrators. The General Prosecutor's Office instituted a case on violating the secrecy of phone conversations and misappropriating computer information. On September 17, within the case on wiretapping, searches were carried out at the editors' office of the "Yerevan.today".

Arthur Vanetsyan has noted that the customers and the perpetrators of the crime were very well prepared. According to him, at present, there are no even any assumptions concerning whether investigators will be able to find defendants in the case on wiretapping.

The Director of the Armenian NSS has also noted that the perpetrators of the crime "acted very cautiously, so that the investigators are not able to find the customer." It is only known that the audio record was downloaded to the Internet from Spain, Arthur Vanetsyan has reported.
