A supporter of Grigol Vashadze beaten in Marneuli

At night on November 24, in Marneuli, three law enforcers stopped Kakha Kvaratskheliya, a 50-year-old supporter of Grigol Vashadze, checked his ID and photographed him, reported Givi Kveladze, the spokesman of the Grigol Vashadze's office in Marneuli, with reference to the victim. According to him, Kakha Kvaratskheliya angered the law enforcers by asking why they were taking pictures of him.

"They began to find out where he came from and for whom he would vote at the election. When they learned that he would vote for Grigol Vashadze, they beat him for that," said Givi Kveladze on the air of the "Rustavi-2" TV Channel as quoted and translated by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The District Prosecutor's Office for Kvemo Kartli has instituted criminal proceedings against the law enforcers under the article on abuse of power with the use of violence, although the information about the incident came from a person who was not familiar with the victim and had not witnessed the beating. The District Prosecutor's Office has not yet contacted Kakha Kvaratskheliya himself, the "News-Georgia" reports today.
