Nodar Burdiladze, the head for the election office of Grigol Vashadze in the Oni Region in the north-west of Georgia, underwent a serious surgery and was taken to a Tbilisi clinic for further medical treatment.

The decision to transfer Nodar Burdiladze to a Tbilisi clinic was made in the evening on November 22. The activist, who got two knife wounds to his abdomen and one to his back, underwent a surgery and was sent to Tbilisi in a reanimobile, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reported with reference to the live broadcast of the "Rustavi-2" TV Channel.

The surgery, which was carried out by three medical teams, lasted seven hours, but, according to medical officers, the condition of Nodar Burdiladze remains severe.

Mamuka Mdinaradze, a member of the parliamentary majority, has commented on the attack on the opposition leader in the city of Oni.
