In Sochi, authorities fail to secure an outlet of storm sewer system after death of a boy
In Sochi, an outlet of the storm sewer system, where a boy drowned in the summer, has not yet been removed, and no fences have been installed on it, local residents report.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 3, in Sochi, a boy fell into an outlet of the storm sewer system. A grandmother could not save the boy, and later the body of the child was found in the sea. A hotel owner was involved as defendant in the criminal case instituted on the death of the boy. According to investigators, the defendant partially covered the outlet of the storm sewer system with a concrete plate for the convenience of entering the building, without taking care of safety for people.
Yevgeniya Vladimirovna, a resident of Lazareva Street, has told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that she often walks with her grandson down Oktyabrskaya Street to a store and passes by the outlet of the storm sewer system where the boy had drowned.
"I know that the criminal proceedings were instituted. And what's the point ... They didn't even install a fence. Everything was as it had been earlier," the woman said.
Veniamin Serebryakov, a resident of Victory Street, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he had recently specially come to look at the place of the tragedy, but he did not see any changes.
"No one has made any conclusions after the tragedy. We do not even know whether the owner of the hotel has been taken into custody," said Sergey, a local resident.
