Vladikavkaz picketers demand to close "Electrozink"

About 50 residents of Vladikavkaz came to a picket demanding to close the "Electrozink" Metallurgical Factory. They called the factory hazardous for locals' health.

After the October 21 fire at the "Electrozink", North-Ossetian MPs supported the demand to stop the factory. However, the lawyers interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" have suggested that the Parliament could not stop the factory. On November 2, over 1500 "Electrozink" employees were sent to vacations.

The closure of "Electrozink" will leave about 2000 families without livelihood, the factory workers respond to their opponents. The authorities of North Ossetia have increased the quota for retraining of the workers of the burned-down shop of the factory, but by November 12, only seven of them got registered at the employment service.
