Chechen authorities threaten table game authors

Djambulat Umarov, the Chechen Minister for National Policy and External Relations, has called the table game "Vampire: The Masquerade", in which the republic is ruled by a clan of vampires, a part of the information war.

In November, a new part of the game was released, in which, according to the plot, Chechnya is ruled by an ancient clan of vampires, who drink the blood of the local population. The story mentions the head of the republic "Sultan Ramzan", who commands the vampires, writes the "Kommersant".

The rules of the game say that "discussions about persecutions of homosexuals are clever manipulations of the media," through which vampires hide the truth about themselves.

The statement about persecutions of LGBT activists in Chechnya caused a scandal. Joseph Carricker, a former employee of the White Wolf Publishing (the company-author of the game, – note of the "Caucasian Knot"), has treated, in his Facebook, this designer's decision as "nasty." "They decided to turn real persecutions of LGBT people into some kind of entertainment," he has stated.

According to Djambulat Umarov, the negative mentioning of Chechnya in the game appeared due to the fact that the republic defends traditional values, the TASS reports.

According to Alexander Ermakov, a co-founder of the Russian publisher of table games "Studio 101", the company has acted unethically by interpreting "the events that occurred less than a hundred years ago," because this interpretation could hurt the participants in the events.
