In the 2nd quarter of 2018, 11 people fell victim to armed conflict in Chechnya

In the period from April 1 to June 30, 2018, in Chechnya, 11 people fell victim to the armed conflict. Of them, 8 were killed and other 3 were wounded. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

The death toll included 2 civilians, 2 law enforcers, and 4 suspected militants. The number of the wounded people included a civilian and 2 law enforcers.

In April, in Chechnya, one person fell victim to the armed conflict: a civilian was killed after detention by law enforcers. In May, in the republic, 10 people fell victim to the armed conflict. Of them, seven were killed and other three were injured. In the course of an armed militant attack on the Church of Archangel Michael in Grozny, two law enforcers, one civilian, and four suspected members of the armed underground were killed. Two law enforcers and one civilian were injured. In June, no victims were reported.

In the first quarter of 2018, at least eight people fell victim to the armed conflict in the Chechen Republic. Of them, seven were killed and another was injured.

The provided statistics cannot reflect the number of victims with the 100 percent accuracy. Not all information is included in the news reports. It is not always possible to check the reliability of the statements voiced by the law enforcement bodies. Besides, new facts about the events of the reporting period become often known after the statistics had been already published on the "Caucasian Knot".

In the second quarter of 2017, at least three people fell victim to the armed conflict. Of them, 2 were killed and another was wounded.

In total, in 2017, according to the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" and the data of the "Novaya Gazeta", 75 people fell victim in Chechnya, including 59 killed and 16 wounded. In 2016, in Chechnya, at least 43 people fell victim to the armed conflict. Of them, at least 27 were killed and 16 others were wounded. In 2015, in Chechnya, at least 30 people fell victim to the ongoing armed conflict in Northern Caucasus, including at least 14 killed and 16 injured.

In 2014, in the Chechen Republic, at least 117 people fell victim to the armed conflict. Of them, at least 52 were killed and other 65 were injured. In 2013, in the republic, at least 101 people fell victim to the armed conflict, including at least 39 killed and other 62 injured.

In 2012, 174 people fell victim to the armed conflict in the republic. Of them, 82 were killed and other 92 were injured. In 2011, in Chechnya, at least 201 people fell victim to the armed conflict. Of them, at least 95 people were killed and other 106 were injured.
