In Moscow, law enforcers visited the "Solidarity" Foundation engaged in charity activities in Northern Caucasus and the "Medina" educational centre located in the same building, the "Caucasian Knot" was informed by Lilia Mukhamedyarova, the president of the foundation and the founder of the centre. According to her, inspectors demanded from NGO staff members to submit explanations concerning teaching children Islam.
According to Lilia Mukhamedyarova, on February 16, law enforcers first came to the "Medina" educational centre, where they announced a scheduled inspection.
"They referred to a scheduled inspection, included in the plan of the Prosecutor's Office ... However, we did not find our centre in the list published on the website for the Prosecutor's Office," Lilia Mukhamedyarova told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
According to her, one of the visitors demanded from staff members of the educational centre to submit explanations why they "teach children Islam," although no such classes were conducted at the educational centre.
Lilia Mukhamedyarova has noted that the "Solidarity" Foundation, located in the same room on the third floor, was also checked by law enforcers, despite the fact that they had the sanction to check only the "Medina" educational centre.
