Ingush CC declares law on Chechen border unconstitutional

The law on fixing a new border with Chechnya fails to comply with the Constitution of Ingushetia, this border issue should be resolved by a referendum, the Constitutional Court (CC) of Ingushetia has decided.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 25, the Ingush CC began considering the legality of the law that establishes a new border with Chechnya. The grounds for the consideration were the requests of 12 local MPs and local residents. On October 29, it became known that two MPs and two residents changed their minds and recalled their requests. However, the CC refused to close the case.

"The agreement on the establishment of the Ingush-Chechen border of September 26, 2018, signed without its prior approval at the referendum of the Republic of Ingushetia has no legal consequences for the bodies of state power," the CC's website reports.
