Clan members elect their delegates to World Congress of Ingush People

On October 27, the city of Nazran, Ingushetia, hosted an emergency congress of members of Ingush clans (teips). The main topics were the Ingush-Chechen border, and the nomination of delegates to the World Congress of the Ingush People.

On September 26, Ramzan Kadyrov and Yunus-Bek Evkurov signed the agreement on securing the border between Chechnya and Ingushetia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 4-17, in Magas, the capital of Ingushetia, a round-the-clock protest rally was held against changing the border with Chechnya, where the protesters demanded a referendum on the border and resignation of the head of the republic. The rally organizers interrupted it in order to prepare the World Congress of the Ingush People, scheduled for October 30.

"Malsag Uzhakhov, the Chairman of the Teips' Council, said that 830 delegates, representing 283 Ingush family clans, had been registered," Magomed Mutsolgov, the head of the human rights organization "Mashr" and a blogger of the "Caucasian Knot", wrote on October 27.

The Telegram-channel "Ingushetia_2018" posted a video with a speech of Akhmed Pogorov, the former Interior Minister of Ingushetia at the congress. Apart from Evkurov, in his speech, Pogorov also criticizes the adoption by Chechnya in 2012 of the law, according to which a number of dwelling settlements of the Sunzha District of Ingushetia were transferred under the jurisdiction of Chechnya, stating that Ingush MPs were supposed to abolish the law. However, immediately after criticizing the Chechen leadership, Pogorov asked "not to allow any fabrications regarding our brotherly Chechen people," while laying the blame for accepting the Chechen-Ingush agreement on Yunus-Bek Evkurov, the head of Ingushetia.
