A native of Stavropol sentenced to 16 years of imprisonment after deportation from Austria

The court has found Bekkhan Zubairaev, a native of the Stavropol Territory, who had been earlier deported from Austria, an organizer to the financing of Syrian militants.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 9, Bekkhan Zubairaev, deported from Austria to Russia, was accused of organizing the financing of terrorism.

A sister of Bekkhan Zubairaev told the "Caucasian Knot" that her brother was tortured in Grozny. "On March 20, law enforcers from Chechnya arrived in Mineralnye Vody and detained the brother. They brought him to Grozny and tortured for two days to force him to confess to his alleged participation in raising money intended to send Russian citizens to fight in Syria," said Zarema Zubairaeva.

Today, the North-Caucasian District Military Court has found Bekkhan Zubairaev, a native of the village of Arkhangelskoe in the Budyonnovsk District, guilty under Article 205.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (organizing the financing of terrorism). The defendant was sentenced to 16 years of imprisonment in a high-security penal colony, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed in the courtroom.

During the hearing, Bekkhan Zubairaev pleaded not guilty, reports the court. The "Caucasian Knot" has no comments from the defendant or his representatives on the version of the investigators and the Court's decision.
