Kadyrov summons Ingush elder to Sharia trial

Magomed Daudov, the Speaker of the Chechen Parliament, arrived in the Ingush village of Novy Redant on behalf of Ramzan Kadyrov and invited the Elder Akhmed Barakhoev to a Sharia trial because of his statement at a rally in Magas. Barakhoev refused to come to Kadyrov.

On September 26, Ramzan Kadyrov and Yunus-Bek Evkurov signed the agreement on securing the border between Chechnya and Ingushetia. From October 4 till October 17, Magas hosted a round-the-clock mass rally against the change in the border with Chechnya. Protestors demanded the referendum on the issue of the border and the resignation of the republic's leader.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 16, Ramzan Kadyrov promised to "ask" from one of the leaders of the protest in Ingushetia, a former Interior Minister Akhmed Pogorov, for a number of statements made by him at a rally and addressed to Kadyrov. Akhmed Barakhoev, a member of the organizing committee of the rally, answered to Kadyrov by inviting him to come and personally express his claims to Pogorov and his associates. "I told your Daudov at the meeting with Matovnikov that your manner of knocking on the table with your fist will not work here," Mr Barakhoev said during the protest rally.

Late in the evening on October 24, a group of people from Kadyrov's retinue, headed by the Speaker Daudov, arrived in Ingushetia to the house of Barakhoev in the village of Novy Redant.

According to Akhmed Barakhoev himself, Daudov phoned him in advance and arranged his arrival in Novy Redant; and during a personal meeting he told about the invitation to a Sharia trial on October 25 for the words he had addressed to the head of Chechnya.

"Barakhoev said that he did not give up his words, and they were told in response to the sharp reaction of the Chechen leader. He also did not refuse from the Sharia trial, but he would not go to Grozny to Ramzan. He must ponder and consult his people on how to act correctly, "said the message of the Telegram-channel "Glavkom RI", posted at 11:58 p.m. Moscow time on October 24.
