TV series episode with Circassian woman triggers protests among Caucasian Diasporas in Turkey

The natives of Northern Caucasus living in Turkey found the phrase about the Circassian woman in the "One Hope" TV series as offensive and demanded, at a rally, to stop further show of the serial.

The episode, which was considered offensive by natives of the Caucasus, was shown in the second film of the serial. In relation to a girl presented as a Circassian, a phrase was pronounced meaning an entry into extramarital relations and an unlawful birth of a child, Ali Viskhadjiev, the head of the Chechen Diaspora in Istanbul, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

On October 21, representatives of about 40 organizations of immigrants from Northern Caucasus held a protest rally at the building of the "TV Channel D", demanding a public apology. The organizer was the "Platform of Associations of North-Caucasian Organizations of Turkey".

The demonstrators came out with flags of their republics and posters, condemning the actions of the TV channel. The participants chanted: "Circassians are here", "Adygs are here", "Ossetians are here", "Chechens are here", "Kabardians are here", "Dagestanis are here", "We are all together", "We demand apologies". According to the Turkish police, up to three thousand people from Caucasian organizations of Istanbul, Samsun, Izmir and other cities of Turkey took part in the rally, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has reported.
