In Moscow, International Koran Reciting Competition held without Northern Caucasus

The 19th Moscow International Koran Reciting Competition aroused great interest among Muslims of Russia, but hafizes (Koran reciters) from the regions of Northern Caucasus did not reach the final.

On October 21, the ceremonial part for the final of the 19th Moscow International Koran Reciting Competition, called by the organizers "Koran Holiday", was held in the Moscow Crocus City Concert Hall named after Muslim Magomaev, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

According to Dilara Bagautdinova, a member of the competition organizing committee, the strongest hafizes (Koran reciters, knowing the entire text of the Muslim holy book) from more than 30 countries came to the contest.

The participants came from most Muslim countries, from Morocco to Indonesia, as well as from the USA, Serbia, and Russia, Dilara Bagautdinova, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

This year, Russia was represented by 16-year-old Ayamutdin Farkhudinov. He is of Tajik origin, and he lives in Tula. Koran reciters from the North-Caucasian regions did not reach the final of the current Koran reciting competition in Moscow, Dilara Bagautdinova noted.

Abdul Hakim al-Auzadji from Yemen became the best in the hafiz competition this year. He perfectly masters the knowledge and all the details of reading Koran, and he is able to read from memory any line of the holy book from any mentioned page.
