Law enforcers release Stavropol activist
Muslim Suleimanov, a resident of the Stavropol Territory, has been released by law enforcers without any charge brought against him, and his brother Rinat remains detained, report relatives of the activist. The gathering of residents of the Irgakly village, dissatisfied with the detention, has been finished after officials of the Stavropol Territory promised to investigate the situation.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported the Muslim Suleimanov's relatives claimed that on October 10, law enforcers planted ammunition to his house and after that took the man away with them to some unknown destination. The family members of Muslim Suleimanov associated the persecution with his active civic position.
Muslim Suleimanov was set free after questioning. No charges were brought against him, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by Alina Suleimanova, a detainee's daughter.
On October 10, Stavropol law enforcers conducted a search in the house of Rinat Suleimanov, a brother of Muslim Suleimanov. Nothing forbidden was found in his house, but the man was also detained. Today, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been informed by relatives of the brothers that Rinat Suleimanov is still being kept at the regional administration of a law enforcement body. According to the relatives' information, law enforcers try to charge Rinat Suleimanov with involvement in the terror act committed in Pyatigorsk in 2009.
On October 10 and today, the village of Irgakly hosted spontaneous gatherings of residents dissatisfied with the law enforcers' actions, reported a woman from the village, a relative of the Suleimanov brothers. She did not specify the numbers of the participants. According to the woman, the participants of the gatherings demanded to release Rinat Suleimanov and stop pressure on the local community. The participants left the place after local officials invited representatives of the gathering to enter the administration. The regional officials who attended the meeting at the administration promised to investigate the reasons for the detention of Rinat Suleimanov.
