Dagestani MIA explains detention of anti-torture protesters by residents' discontent
Policemen have detained the nude painter Ekaterina Nenasheva, well-known for her performances, two journalists and a photographer, during their action "Cargo-300" in Makhachkala. All of them were released without drawing up protocols, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Dagestan has reported.
Today, Nenasheva has installed a cage wrapped with packaging film on one of the boulevards in Makhachkala; went inside it and then stretched out her arm out through a small opening. By means of this action, she wanted to draw attention to the problem of torture.
Twenty minutes later, the action attracted the attention of policemen, who detained Nenasheva, as well as journalists Svetlana Anokhina and Malik Butaev and the photographer Shamil Gadjidadaev. They were taken to a police station, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
All the detainees were released from the station without drawing up an administrative protocol, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told at the Dagestani MIA, which explained that the reason for the detention of the activist and journalists was the discontent of residents of Makhachkala. "Several passers-by complained to policemen about the participants of the action," a MIA source has stated.
