Ingush MPs abolish voting for border change

The parliamentarians of Ingushetia have annulled the outcomes of their vote on October 4 for the ratification of the agreement on fixing the border with Chechnya. The repeated voting is scheduled for October 8.

The extraordinary session of the People's Assembly (Parliament) of Ingushetia failed because of absence of quorum, MPs said at a rally in Magas.

According to the authorities, on October 4, 17 out of 25 MPs voted for the ratification of the above agreement; however, the parliamentarians themselves told at the rally that only five of them actually voted in favour thereof.

According to the MP Set-Salem Akhilgov, the repeated voting is scheduled for October 8, the "Interfax" reports.

However, so far, there is no confirmed data on the quorum at the sitting of the Ingush Parliament. In the absence of quorum, the MPs could not take a legitimate decision to cancel the October 4 voting.

Let us remind you that a mass protest action against changing the Ingush-Chechen border is on in Magas since October 4. Its participants demand a referendum on the border issue and resignation of the head of the republic, Yunus-Bek Evkurov. Despite the cold weather, the action is held on the round-the-clock basis.
