Gasanguseinovs' parents suspend protest actions

Murtazali and Patimat Gasanguseinov have decided to stop picketing for several days, because the head of Dagestan, a meeting with whom they are seeking, is away.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 24, the father and mother of the assassinated Gasanguseinov brothers held a five-hour-long picket in Makhachkala; and on the next day they picketed for eight hours at the Government House of Dagestan, but they failed to meet Vladimir Vasiliev, the head of Dagestan. Murtazali Gasanguseinov, the father, announced an endless protest action.

Nabi and Gasangusein Gasanguseinov were killed on August 24, 2016. Law enforcers declared them to be militants, who opened automatic fire at policemen. The casualties' fellow villagers demanded to punish those responsible for their murder, asserting that the brothers were shepherds and had no relation to the militants.

Today, the information was confirmed that Vasiliev is on a visit to Azerbaijan, Murtazali Gasanguseinov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. "According to our data, he will be back no sooner than in  two or three days. Since we only need to meet him, we decided to temporarily suspend the protest until his arrival," he has explained.

The today's picket of Gasanguseinovs' parents lasted for three hours, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Moscow time. During the picket, Ramazan Djafarov, a Vice-Premier of Dagestan, who was passing by, came up to the parents. He invited them to visit the Investigating Committee (IC) for Dagestan, because, according to his version, Vladimir Vasiliev will not be able "to solve their problem." The official has noted that he had called Sergey Dubrovin, the head of the IC, and he agreed to meet the Gasanguseinovs.

However, Murtazali Gasanguseinov refused to leave the square. He explained that if he wanted to meet Dubrovin, he would have gone to the IC, and would not seek a meeting with Vasiliev.
