Law enforcers threaten to detain participants of protest action in Sunzha

Today, in Sunzha, being under the tight control of law enforcers, about 50 people have started a spontaneous action against the transfer of lands in the Sunzha District to Chechnya.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 25, after the news about the resignation of Issa Khashagulgov as the district head, activists and residents of the Sunzha District of Ingushetia came to the building of the district administration.

The rally participants demanded explanations from the officials on whether it was really planned to transfer a part of the territory of Ingushetia to Chechnya.

Today, by 11:50 a.m. Moscow time, several SUVs and trucks with law enforcers drove up in the square in front of the Culture House in Sunzha. The law enforcers warned they would detain the gathered people, and the protestors started to leave the place after the warning. Officials, who talked to the people who gathered in the square, explained to them that Magas hosted a meeting of the heads of the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) and no transfer of lands took place there, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reported.

Today, Ingushetia will host a meeting of the Council under the presidential envoy in the NCFD "to be attended by the heads of the regions that make up the NCFD", reports the press service for Yunus-Bek Evkurov. "The agenda of the meeting will include issues related to the development of the transport system and infrastructure in the NCFD's constituent entities, the launch of digital terrestrial broadcasting, and others," reports the press release published today on the website of the Ingush leader.

Let us remind you that in August, the NGO "Support of Ingushetia" announced that some construction works began in Ingushetia by workers from Chechnya under the protection of Chechen law enforcers, and about an attempt to set up a road-and-patrol (DPS) post of the Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) near the Ingush border village of Arshty. NGO activists then complained to the "Caucasian Knot" that Ingush authorities had left these actions of the Chechen side without public reaction.
