Georgian opposition initiates constitutional amendments banning export of marijuana
The "Strength in Unity" movement in Georgia has announced it will collect signatures to introduce amendments to the Constitution of the country banning the cultivation and export of marijuana.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 11, the Georgian government proposed to allow the cultivation of marijuana to produce pharmaceutical and cosmetic products for export. The appearance of the bill is premature, as it lobbies the interests of certain people, experts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" said.
Today, leaders of the "Strength in Unity" movement have applied to the Georgian Parliament to impose a constitutional ban on the cultivation and export of marijuana. This initiative will be submitted to the Bureau of the Parliament for consideration, and after the issuance of special fill-in forms, its authors will be able to begin collecting signatures.
Opposition representatives need to collect 200,000 signatures in order to move forward with their initiative.
