Authorities of Volgograd Region promise to help relatives of the pilot who perished in Syria
The farewell ceremony to Konstantin Nazarov, a native of the Volgograd Region, who perished in Syria on September 17, will take place at the school where he studied.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that natives of Southern Russia were aboard the Russian military aircraft shot down in Syria on September 17.
The Il-20 aircraft was returning to the Khmeimim airbase, and was shot down by the Syrian air defence system. The shot was fired accidentally at repelling an attack by Israeli fighters. There were 15 militaries aboard the aircraft, including the commander Sergey Gavryutin, a resident of the Krasnodar Territory; and his assistant, Konstantin Nazarov, a native of the Volgograd Region. Alexei Sedunov, a serviceman from the Astrakhan Region, is also on the list of casualties.
It was reported earlier that relatives wanted to bury Nazarov in his homeland, in the farm yard Aleksikovsky in Novonikolaevsky District of the Volgograd Region, where his mother and live. His wife and five-year-old daughter live in Zelenograd.
Local authorities are ready to help in organizing the funeral, the press service of the administration of the Volgograd Region has reported. The funeral will be held with military honours.
