Refugees achieve meeting with Armenia Premier
On Thursday, September 20, former villagers of Artsvashen gathered near the building of Armenian government, demanding help in improving their houses. After a clash with policemen, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan went out to meet them.
The refugees from the village of Artsvashen, which is under Azerbaijani control for about 27 years, are living now in the village of Chambarak of the Gegarkunik Region of Armenia. About a hundred of them came to an action in Yerevan, stating that their wooden houses are in emergency condition.
According to the protesters, under the former authorities, 7 billion drams (about 1.5 million US dollars) were allocated to them; however, they received a meagre of that sum.
Gagik Dallakyan, a protester, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that there is no gas and water supply in his house.
According to Chambarak residents, "every morning when they wake up, they think that someone's house could collapse."
They said that "their only hope is on Pashinyan." In his turn, the Prime Minister has noted that "he was not ready yet to answer their questions."
The protesters agreed to discuss their problems at the next meeting with Pashinyan on October 2.
