Media: dozens of people detained after clashes near Kendelen in Kabardino-Balkaria

Clashes occurred on the motorway "Kavkaz" after law enforcers stopped at a checkpoint of the road-and-patrol service (known as DPS) in Baksan a group of people who were going to support one of the parties to the conflict in the Kendelen village. At least 30 people were detained, the media report.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 18, in Kabardino-Balkaria, residents of the Balkar village of Kendelen refused to let participants of the equestrian procession organized in memory of the 310th anniversary of the Kanzhali battle to go through the village. There were clashed between the visitors and the villagers, and some people were injured. Clashes between the participants of the procession and policemen also occurred in the village of Zayukovo near Kendelen.

On September 19, at the DPS checkpoint in Baksan, law enforcers detained the people who came to support one of the parties to the conflict in the village of Kendelen. After that, clashes occurred on the motorway "Kavkaz", the "1777.ru" reports. According to the edition, gunshots were heard.

The law enforcers dispersed people with clubs, the "Region Online" reports with reference to its source.

According to the "Kommersant", about 30 people were detained at the Baksan DPS checkpoint.

In 2008, the residents of Kendelen also refused to let participants of the equestrian procession organized in honour of the 300th anniversary of Kabarda's victory in the Kanzhali battle to go through the village. The villagers came out to a rally under the slogan "No Kanzhali battle ever took place". The confrontation between the participants of the equestrian procession and the residents of Kendelen lasted two days.
