CTO in Dagestani Talgi passes unnoticed by villagers

Residents of the village of Talgi, where three alleged militants were killed, did not hear the shooting and did not notice the limitations imposed by the counter-terrorist operation (CTO) regime. It is not possible to verify the information of law enforcers about the involvement of the casualties in the armed underground, journalists have stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 15, law enforcers about the CTO conducted in the Buynaksk and Karabudakhkent Districts of Dagestan. In the village of Talgi, three militants engaged in an armed skirmish with law enforcers and were killed.

The CTO took place in the outskirt of the village and had no effect on the life in Talgi, Suleiman, a local resident, said.

Another local resident named Akhmed has confirmed that locals did not noticed the actions to search for militants in Talgi.

The presence among the killed militants of a native from another region of Russia is not a unique case, Magomed Magomedov, a columnist for the "Chernovik", has noted.

"This indicates the coverage of the underground or of those who seek to get into it. Now, militants are recruited from the regions of the country distant from the republic," the journalist has explained.

Since the start of the 2000s, the opportunities for the operation of the armed underground in Dagestan have significantly reduced; law enforcers managed to take control over all those who were linked with militants, said Milrad Fatullaev, the editor-in-chief of the RIA "Derbent".
