Opponent of peaceful negotiations on Nagorno-Karabakh arrested in Azerbaijan
Aziz Gakhramanov, a member of the "Musavat" Party, was arrested for 10 days after picketing against the ineffective conclusive negotiations on Nagorno-Karabakh which has been lasting for 25 years. Members of the "Musavat" Party believe the persecution of Aziz Gakhramanov is of political nature.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 15, the Azerbaijani leader stated that a strong army was the main condition for the resolution of the Karabakh conflict.
Mustafa Gadjibeily, the chief of the press service for the "Musavat" Party, has noted there are witnesses who saw that Aziz Gakhramanov did not resist the police.
In his blog "The Wind from Absheron" on the "Caucasian Knot", blogger Kyamal Ali supported Aziz Gakhramanov "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) could ignore a solo picket or listen to the picketer's demand by delegating a PR officer," wrote Kyamal Ali. He has noted that the society shows growing dissatisfaction with the negotiations on the settlement of the Karabakh conflict.
