Serzh Sargsyan's nephew released on bail
The court has ruled to release Hayk Sargsyan, a nephew of Serzh Sargsyan, the third president of Armenia, from custody, the defence has stated.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that this July, the criminal case on shooting in Yerevan in 2007 with the participation of Hayk Sargsyan was resumed. He is accused of an attempted murder and illegal acquisition and storage of firearms and since July 11 was in custody.
Today, the first-instance court has granted the defence's motion, and Hayk Sargsyan was released after a bail of 50 million drams (about 102,612 US dollars) was deposited, his advocate Yeryom Sargsyan told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
The prosecutor insisted on Hayk's arrest, recalling that he was detained at the Zvartnots Airport, when he wanted to leave the country. According to investigators, this means that Hayk Sargsyan may later try to hide from the inquiry, said the advocate. Yeryom Sargsyan has explained that his client was detained when he tried to fly away on vacation.
