Russia refuses to seek Armenia ex-Defence Minister

Colonel-General Mikael Arutyunyan, a former Armenian Minister of Defence, announced in the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) interstate search, has been removed from the wanted list in the territory of the Russian Federation, the Armenian Police have stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 3, investigators opened a criminal case on the violent overthrow of the constitutional order in connection with the events in Yerevan on March 1-2, 2008. One of the accused persons in the case is the above Colonel-General Mikael Arutyunyan, who then headed the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Armenia. On August 21, he was put on the wanted list.

The Police of Armenia has received refusal of Russian law enforcers to search for Arutyunyan, the press service of the Police of Armenia has reported.
