Native of Dagestan suspected of terrorism detained in Baku
Rustam Amirov, a 37-year-old native of Dagestan, was detained at the airport, when he tried to fly to Ukraine, his relatives have reported. Earlier, Amirov was put on the wanted list by the Interpol on suspicion of involvement in terrorist activities.
Amirov was detained on September 1, since then, nothing is known about his fate, one of his relatives told the "Caucasian Knot". He believes that Azerbaijani authorities are preparing Amirov's extradition.
The relative has added that Amirov was forced to leave Russia after in 2016, Dagestani law enforcers found religious literature with the ideas of Hizb-ut-Tahrir (recognized as a terrorist organization and banned in Russia by the court) when searching his house. The relative is sure that the literature was planted by law enforcers.
At the moment of the search, Amirov was not in Dagestan and, knowing the practice of law enforcers, he did not return to the republic, said Ruslan, a friend of Amirov.
