In Armenia, house of former Court of Cassation chair shelled

Three men in masks entered the territory of the house belonging to Arman Mkrtumyan, the former chairman of the Armenian Court of Cassation, and opened random fire from machine guns. One attacker has been detained, reports today Sona Truzyan, the advisor to the chief of the Investigating Committee of Armenia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 5, Arman Mkrtumyan, the chair for the Court of Cassation, filed a letter of resignation. In his letter, he noted that "he decided to give way to young people."

In 2013, advocates opposed the methods applied by the Court of Cassation, in particular, "arbitrariness in the application of a number of laws."

At about 10: p.m. local time on August 28, the house of the former chair of the Court of Cassation was attacked in the village of Dzorakhbyur in the Kotaik District. Arman Mkrtumyan himself and his family member were in the house. They saw armed men in masks on surveillance cameras and after that Arman Mkrtumyan and his son went out into the yard, writes today Sona Truzyan, the adviser to the chief of the Investigating Committee of Armenia, on her Facebook page.

"One of the men suspected of the crime has been disarmed and detained," reported Sona Truzyan.
