Houses of Azerbaijani residents damaged by earthquake
This evening, two underground tremors were fixed in the Lerik District of Azerbaijan. No victims have been reported; however, cracks appeared on some houses.
According to seismologists, the first shock of 5.1 points of magnitude occurred at 4:57 p.m. local time, the second one – at 5:01 p.m.; it was 3.7 points strong.
The first earthquake focus was at the depth of 15 kilometres; the second one – at 12 km; the epicentre of the earthquake was in the Lerik District, the Centre of the Seismological Service of Azerbaijan has reported today.
In the epicentre, people felt an earthquake of above five points, while minor shocks were felt by residents of the neighbouring districts – the Lankaran, Masalli, Astara, Lerik, Bilasuvar and Salyan ones, the "Sputnik-Azerbaijan" has reported.
The earthquake caused cracks in some old houses in the Lerik and Lankaran Districts; no serious damage was recorded, the southern bureau of the agency reports.
