Pilgrim from Dagestan dies in Medina

A resident of Dagestan died of a stroke during a hajj in Saudi Arabia, Rushan Abbyasov, deputy chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM) of Russia, has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that this year Dagestan was allocated a quota of 8600 pilgrims to visit Mecca.

Abbyasov has noted that according to the Muslim tradition, the pilgrim will be buried in the place, where he died.

"There are even people, especially elderly ones, who intend to go to Hajj and die there in order to be buried into this sacred land," the RIA "Novosti" quotes him as saying.

The deceased was 57 years old; he died while standing on Mount Arafat, the "Region online" reports referring to its source.
