Six workers fell victim to mine explosion in Rostov Region

Five people were injured and one perished in an explosion in the "Obukhovskaya" Mine in the town of Zverevo, Rostov Region, the Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) has reported.

According to rescuers' information, in the mine, during the tunnelling works, a detonation of explosives occurred. At the moment of detonation, miners were at the depth of 400 meters; the cause of the explosion has not yet been established.

At the moment of explosion, there were six people in the mine. All the injured miners were brought to the surface and taken to the Zverevo Central Hospital; the body of the deceased miner was also taken to the surface, the spokesman of the regional branch of the MfE has reported.

"According to the updated data, five people were injured," the "Interfax-South" quotes an MfE employee as saying.

The information on the victims' condition has not been specified yet.
