Law enforcement bodies have reported the murder of a suspect in organizing riots in Ganja. The casualty, as Azerbaijan law enforcers assert, professed radical religious views. He became the fifth person, killed by law enforcers after the riots in Ganja.

On July 10, some 150-200 people gathered near the building of the Ganja city administration in connection with the July 3 attack on the head of the city executive power, Elmar Veliev. The protesters demanded to investigate the actions of not only the attackers, but of Veliev himself. The police stopped the rally by using force. During the clash with the participants of the rally, two police officers were killed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that as of July 30, 61 persons suspected of organizing riots in Ganja were arrested, and other 13 people were put on the wanted list. Four were killed at detention.

The fifth suspect was killed in Sumgait. The operation was carried out on August 10, but the information about it appeared only on August 13.

Muraz Ragimov (born in 1989) was shot dead when rendering armed resistance, the "contact.az" reports with reference to the release of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

According to law enforcement bodies, he had planned to kill the Imam of Ganja during the Ashura holiday to be celebrated in September.

Earlier Muraz Ragimov was convicted for keeping a grenade. While in prison, he joined the movement "Muslim Unity" banned in the country, the "Trend" informs referring to its sources in law enforcement bodies.
