Russian helicopter pilots hold missile anti-intelligence training in Abkhazia

Combat helicopters Ka-52 "Alligator" of the Russia's Southern Military District (CMD) have conducted training at the "Naggvalou" training ground in Abkhazia.

The targets simulating enemy's reconnaissance and combat boats were hit by 30-mm cannons and guided missiles "Vikhr" (Whirlwind) and "Attack", the "Gazeta.ru" writes with reference to Vadim Astafiev, the head of the SMD's press service.

The training was held within the framework of joint tactical exercises involving more than 2500 militaries and about 600 equipment units, the "Interfax" reports.

Georgia treats Abkhazia as a part of its territory, occupied by Russian troops.

After the 2008 war, Georgia liquidated its naval forces; but the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has created a subdivision of coastal guard, which participates in the exercises together with navy ships of NATO countries.
