Wife of Sargsyan's bodyguard accused of illegal enrichment
Ruzanna Beglaryan, the wife of Vachagan Kazaryan, a former security head of Serzh Sargsyan, has been accused of illegal enrichment and concealment of incomes. She is under recognizance no to leave.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Major-General Vachagan Kazaryan, the head of the guard of Serzh Sargsyan, the third president of Armenia, was detained in June on suspicion of illegal enrichment and concealment of incomes. At detention, a large sum of money was seized from him. In July, he was released on bail of 2 million US dollars.
According to investigators, Kazaryan's wife had submitted declarations to the ethics commission of high-ranking officials for the period from 2014 to 2017, in which she indicated the same income in the amount of 25 million drams (51,930.97 US dollars), 29,000 US dollars and 17,400 euros per each of the years. After a check, it turned out that Ms Beglaryan failed to declare the amount of 350,817,000 drams (728,730.74 US dollars), the Investigating Committee of Armenia has reported.
