Orkhan Djemal to be buried in Moscow according to Muslim customs

Russian journalist Orkhan Djemal and his two colleagues were captured in the Central African Republic (CAR) by Islamic rebels and killed after interrogation, reported sources in the CAR. The funeral of Orkhan Djemal will be held in Moscow in accordance with the Muslim customs, journalist Maxim Shevchenko reported.

The "Caucasian Knot" has informed that on July 31, it was reported that journalist Orkhan Djemal and his two colleagues were killed in the Central African Republic while they were working on a documentary film about the private military company "Wagner".

Orkhan Djemal was a Russian journalist, a co-founder of the Muslim Union of Journalists in Russia, an author of the book "The Chronicles of the Five-Day War", dedicated to the military conflict between Georgia and Russia in South Ossetia in 2008.

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) is to arrange the delivery of the Orkhan Djemal's body to Russia, but the funeral will be organized by the Union of Muslims of Russia, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by journalist Maxim Shevchenko. According to him, the negotiations are currently under way with Moscow mosques for organization of the funeral procession, and the Cathedral Mosque is considered as the main option.

Before the murder in the CAR, Russian journalists were kidnapped by rebels and interrogated, the RBC reported on August 1 with reference to the local edition "Palmares Centrafrique". According to edition's sources, journalists were attacked by members of the Islamic grouping "Seleka". It controls the regions of the country where members of the film crew were travelling. The "Seleka" seeks independence of the northern part of the CAR.
