Kislovodsk resident arrested for professing Islam - advocates

Law enforcers planted a grenade, rounds, and drugs to Vladislav Ilyinsky, a resident of Kislovodsk, advocate Taulan Ebzeev reported. According to advocate Olga Ermoshina, Vladislav Ilyinsky is persecuted for being a follower of Islam.

On July 27, law enforcers detained Vladislav Ilyinsky, a 41-year-old resident of Kislovodsk, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by Taulan Ebzeev, an advocate, representing the detainee's interests.

According to him, the law enforcers stopped a car of Vladislav Ilyinsky when the man was going to his work. They put a grenade and eight rounds in his pocket and drugs in his sock.

"They offered him to confess at once to everything. They said that in that case he would be sentenced to no more than four years," the advocate said.

The advocates associate the detention of Vladislav Ilyinsky with his religion.

"He is Russian by nationality. Vladislav Ilyinsky is being persecuted on the basis of his religion. He is a well-known public figure in the region, a Muslim activist," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by advocate Olga Ermoshina, who represented the Vladislav Ilyinsky's interests.
