Source reports searches in Azerbaijani Theatre of Dagestan

Law enforcers have conducted searches at the Azerbaijani Drama Theatre in Derbent, suspecting its leadership of financial frauds, a source has reported, adding that a criminal case has not been initiated yet; this issue is under consideration.

"The searches and confiscations in the Azerbaijani Theatre in Derbent have to do with financial machinations of the bosses of the cultural centre," the "Interfax" quotes its source as saying.

As of 10:09 p.m. Moscow time, the websites of the Investigating Department (ID) for Dagestan of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), the republic's Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) and the Dagestani Prosecutor's Office had no confirmation of the conducted searches. By that time, the Azerbaijani State Drama Theatre had also posted no comments to this information on its website.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" reported that on March 2, sources informed about searches in the administration of the Derbent District; and later investigators confirmed the detention of the head of the district Magomed Djelilov. On March 4, Djelilov was removed from his post and placed under house arrest.
