Investigators have requested the arrest of the second Armenian President, Robert Kocharyan, accused of overthrowing the constitutional order in connection with the dispersal of protests in Yerevan on March 1-2, 2008.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 1, 2018, in Yerevan, participants of the action in memory of the victims of dispersal of the demonstration in March 2008 demanded to punish the law enforcers, who had not born any responsibility. After the oppositional leader Nikol Pashinyan came to power, a criminal case was opened in connection with the violent overthrow of the constitutional order in connection with the events in Yerevan in 2008. On July 3, Colonel-General Mikael Arutyunyan, who in March 2008 was the head of the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Armenia, was put on the wanted list.

On March 1-2, 2008, the mass riots in Yerevan started after the dispersal of an oppositional rally, which did not agree with the outcomes of the presidential election, which was won by Serzh Sargsyan. Ten people were killed in skirmishes with policemen, and more than 250 others were injured.
