Four miners perish in Tkibuli

The Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has launched an investigation into an accident at the Mindeli mine, as a result of which four persons have been killed and six others have been injured today.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 5, six persons were killed and three others were seriously injured in a collapse at the Mindeli mine. On the same day, agents of the "Industrial Group of Georgia" Company voiced a version of a rock blow provoked by earthquakes. However, experts came to the conclusion that the tragedy was not related to a natural phenomenon, but it was provoked by a "human factor."

Four miners are killed in the accident at the Mindeli mine in Tkibuli, the RIA "Novosti" reports today with reference to the "First Channel" of the Georgian TV.

The Georgian MIA has confirmed the information. "Rescue works are underway at the place since Monday morning. No details of the accident are known at present," the RIA "Novosti" quotes the MIA's press service as reporting.

The accident has occurred this morning, the "Rustavi-2" TV Company reports on its website. According to the TV Company, six other miners with injuries were taken to the Tkibuli hospital, and one of them stayed in a "relatively severe" condition.
