A film shot by a director from Nalchik gathers spectators at film festival in Karlovy Vary

Presentation of the film "Deep Rivers" at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival is important for its promotion, film director Vladimir Bitokov believes. Nikolai Yankin, a film producer and the director of the "Example of Intonation" Fund, has noted that the presentation of the film at the international festival is a landmark event for film directors from the Caucasus. The film "Deep Rivers" describes reluctance to negotiate, a problem of modern society, believes film critic Maria Bezruk.

The film tells a story about a family living in mountains apart from a village and earning their bread by cutting trees down. Vladimir Bitokov has explained that the relationship of the family members with villagers can serve as a projection of the relationship between Kabardino-Balkaria and the rest of Russia.

The film has not got any prizes in Karlovy Vary, but the very participation in the film festival is of great importance for the promotion of the film, Vladimir Bitokov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Film presentations gathered full halls of spectators, "most of whom were Europeans," noted film producer Nikolai Yankin. He believes the people liked the film.

Vladimir Bitokov has mentioned that according to the film story, the younger brother lives separately from his family members in the city and forgot his native language. His choice to speak Russian indirectly reflects the situation in Kabardino-Balkaria among the youth, explains the author of the film.

According to Vladimir Bitokov, the characters characterize the "Caucasian specifics."

The director hopes that his film will soon be released in Russia and, in particular, in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR).
