In Sochi, over 10,000 people visit fan zone during Russia-Spain football match

On July 1, in Sochi, by the beginning of the football match between the national teams of Russia and Spain, a fan zone gathered at a time more than 10,000 football fans. In total, during the day, according to the organizers' estimates, about 20,000 people visited the fan zone.

Let us remind you that the match of the 1/8 finals of the FIFA World Cup between Russia and Spain took place in Moscow and ended in victory for the Russian football players in a series of penalties.

"I'm a fan of football. I'm here in Sochi on vacation, and I watch all the events and football matches. I come here regularly. There are always lots of people, and there is a lot of joy here. Meanwhile, there was a special match today, because Russian team was competing. I could not miss that," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by a visitor to the fan zone from Vladivostok, who introduced himself as Sergey Volkov.

"I supported Russia, because it's a country that hosts football matches," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Jose, a football fan from Portugal. His friend Adam supported Spain. "However, we do not care in principle. It was important for us to meet other people, drink beer, and have fun. There is a lot of real fun here," Adam says.

In the fan zone and in Sochi itself, it is possible to meet football fans from Australia, Peru, Portugal, Spain, Germany, Sweden, Belgium, Panama, and Brazil. "Many people come from countries which teams did not get to the FIFA World Cup, including, for example, from China and Lebanon," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by the press service of the Sochi Mayoralty. To date, according to the source, "the fan zone has already been visited by almost 320,000 people since the beginning of the FIFA World Cup."
