Analysts explain intensification of Azerbaijan's military rhetoric

The statements of the head of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) about the superiority of the Azerbaijani Army over its opponent are intended to draw mediators' attention to the threat of a new war, Azerbaijani military analysts believe.

On the eve of the Military Day and the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces to be marked on June 26, on June 21, Zakir Gasanov, the head of the MoD, told journalists about the capabilities of his army.

"The destruction of enemy's forces will be remote and large-scale, to minimize the losses of our manpower," Kyamal Ali, a blogger of the "Caucasian Knot", has summed up.

Minister Gasanov has noted that Azerbaijani Armed Forces possess "the most sophisticated weapons with a high destructive power."

Azad Isazade, a military expert, saw indications of a possible intensification of warfare in the conflict zone in the words of the MoD's head.

Azerbaijan has reached an obvious military dominance over the opponent; and a new possible war will be radically different from the war of the 1990s, said Uzeyir Djafarov, the head of the NGO "Military Journalists".
