Manvel Grigoryan placed behind bars

A Yerevan court has ruled to arrest Manvel Grigoryan, a former MP, accused of stealing foodstuffs and equipment intended for the army, for two months.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 18, the General Public Prosecutor of Armenia called on the Prime Minister to deprive Manvel Grigoryan of his parliamentary immunity on suspicion of illegal arms circulation and stealing the humanitarian aid intended for militaries. On June 19, the Armenian parliament decided, by a majority vote, to deprive Grigoryan of his MP's immunity.

On the same day, the court of first instance of the general jurisdiction of the administrative districts of Avan-Nor-Nork chose for Manvel Grigoryan, who is also the head of the "Erkrapa" Union of Volunteers, the freedom restraint in the form of arrest, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has reported.

According to the court ruling, Manvel Grigoryan was arrested for two months, the "Sputnik-Armenia" has added.

Earlier, Manvel Grigoryan was charged with illegal storage of arms and ammunition, as well as of a large-scale embezzlement, Arsen Mkrtchyan, an advocate, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
