Armenian Parliament approves programme of Pashinyan's government

The MPs of the National Assembly (Parliament) of Armenia have voted 62 against 39 in support of the programme proposed by the government of Nikol Pashinyan.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today the Armenian Parliament has begun considering the programme proposed by the government.

To approve the programme, it needed support of 53 MPs out of 101 MPs, present at today's sitting. As a result, 62 MPs voted for it, and 39 were against, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

Among the new government's priorities the programme defines the fight against corruption, protection of human rights, economic growth, and raising the level of public education and social protection.

In accordance with the programme, the extraordinary parliamentary elections should be held not later than in a year.

In the foreign policy sphere, Nikol Pashinyan, on the one hand, has proposed to strengthen the allied relations with Russia, and on the other hand, the partnership with the US and the EU will be given an impetus, the RIA "Novosti" quotes Mr Pashinyan as saying.
