Residents of Grozny complain about raids of utility inspectors to collect debts
Inspectors from the "Chechenenergo" Company, who visit people at home, often behave rudely, and sometimes they even demand to pay for electricity even for the current month, report residents of Grozny. According to the Mayor of Grozny, for two days of raids, about 400,000 roubles were collected.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 14, inspectors from the "Chechenenergo" carried out in Grozny large-scale raids to collect debts for electricity. The inspectors demanded immediate repayments of debts and threatened with the arrest of debtors' property, complained Grozny residents.
Chechen public employees claimed they were demanded to provide certificates on the absence of debts for utilities. According to them, in case of failure to present a certificate, a public employee faces non-payment of wages and dismissal.
On May 30 and 31, utility service inspectors again carried out their raids in Grozny to collect debts for electricity, local residents report.
"My debt got accumulated, since I spent almost all my pension for drugs and food," said Leyla, a resident of Grozny.
Rasul, another local resident, claims that he pays for utilities on time, but inspectors of the public utility services still informed him about a debt.
Grozny resident Zaur complained about the annoying behaviour of the inspectors.
"We deal with the debtors who fail to pay for services for two months and longer," an inspector from the "Chechenenergo" explained.
According to him, the inspectors try to meet the debtors' requests. "Nevertheless, there are also those persons who persistently fail to pay for utility services and thus create problems for themselves and for us," the inspector noted.
