Voronezh rights defenders call on to write letters to Titiev

On May 31, activists of the Voronezh Human Rights House held an action in support of Oyub Titiev, the head of Grozny office of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial". During the action held under the motto "Solidarity is stronger than injustice!" townspeople were signing postcards for Titiev.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 31, the court extended Oyub Titiev's arrest until July 9.

Oyub Titiev is under arrest since January 11 on charges of possessing marijuana.

The action in Voronezh was held on the day, when Titiev's was extended. The activists painted a large poster "Send Oyub to the sea, not in prison!" and depicting the rights defender at rest.

Activists of the Human Rights House disseminated leaflets among residents of Voronezh and asked them to sign postcards for Titiev in order to send them to him to the SIZO (pre-trial prison).

Earlier, Titiev's defence spoke about his "excessive isolation." According to Marina Dubrovina, one of his advocates, Titiev does not receive all the mail addressed to him.
