A terror act in Paris committed by a native of Chechnya

A man who killed one and wounded four other passers-by in Paris on May 12 turned out to be a native of Chechnya, a source from the French judicial authorities report. Responsibility for the terror act was claimed by the "Islamic State" (IS) banned in Russia.

According to eyewitnesses, a man wearing a beard attacked people with a knife and was shot dead by policemen. The attacker was born in Chechnya in 1997, and he was a citizen of France.

The young man was registered by the special services as a potential radical, who could threaten national security, the Reuters reports.

The name of the killed native of Chechnya was Khamzat Azimov, and he got the French citizenship in 2010, the RBC reports.

According to eyewitnesses, while attacking passers-by, the man was shouting "Allah Akbar", the BBC reports.

Responsibility for the attack was claimed by the IS, which called the attacker its soldier, the SITE Intelligence Group reports.
